2026 Retiree Open Enrollment

From June 5, 2026, through June 19, 2026, the Kansas City Police Employees’ Retirement Systems (KCPERS) will hold an election to fill one position on the Retirement Board created by the expiring term of Captain Nathan Simecek. Under applicable state statutes, any individual may apply for this open position. Captain Simecek has indicated that he will be seeking reelection.

Candidates should submit a letter declaring their candidacy, accompanied by their resume, to the attention of Steve Miller, Election Director, at the KCPERS office, 9701 Marion Park Drive, no later than May 1, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
Following the close of the election filing period, a meeting will be scheduled for all candidates to ask questions about the election process. Candidates will also learn more about including a short candidate profile in the voting ballot packet mailed to all members.
The Retirement Board has engaged Survey & Ballot Systems to conduct the trustee election. Members will be able to cast their vote by mail, phone, or by logging on to a secure website. Please watch for your election ballot from the Kansas City Police Employees’ Retirement Systems and Survey & Ballot Systems, so you do not miss the instructions on how to cast your vote.
Ballot and voting instructions will be mailed to all KCPERS members on June 3, 2026. All mailed ballots must be received at Survey & Ballot Systems’ office in Minnesota by June 22, 2026. Official voting results will be provided to the Election Director and Retirement Board Chair by June 23, 2026.
